Well this post is almost 3weeks overdue, but something is better than nothing rt?
Chucky is growing so fast and I being a working mom often miss so many beautiful moments but I am glad that we are able to see her daily and spent few hours with her. When things at work goes crazy, I often think about dropping her with my mom for few months, so that she will get the attention she needs and I would get the rest I deserve. But so far I have been pushing myself and still manage to keep her under my wings. That’s challenging.
Looking back I think the biggest milestone is in terms of potty, she is fully potty trained and I no longer have to remind her to do pee or poop, she would come to me and say whenever she wants to use the potty. There are few days she goes to the pot all by herself and does her work and come back. Few months ago I was all tensed and worried and now it all looks like a history. Few days ago we were going for a lunch, I think it was the day before Christmas, while driving R got a call from offshore and there was a burning issue which needed his attention, we had to cancel or lunch plan and come back home, well the point wasn’t that. In between she declared she wanted to pee and I told her that she has to wait till we reach home and I was so surprised to see she was dry when we got back home after 20mins. She looked all grown up suddenly. Sigh.
Day care is something I don’t know whether she enjoys or not. Some days she goes extremely happy and there are few days where she doesn’t want to go. Now that we had many holidays she got to spend a lot at home and it makes it hard for us to deal with following working day. She still has her preferences there, she is still a picky eater and she has her favorite teachers. Her current favorite is Ms.Stephani. She absolutely loves her, usually she comes around 9 and Chucky would be eagerly waiting for her, once she sees her she would go and hug and never leave her even for a bathroom break.
She knows to count 1 to 20 probably more but usually she stops after 20, can count revere 10 to 1. She can identify all the numbers. Can recognize all the alphabets, I didn’t know that she can read the letters until a few weeks ago, I was surprised when she started reading the letters, all I have to do teach her was the few letters which she didn’t know. When R came back from India he was dumb shocked to see her reading all alphabets. She is very fascinated to read and write but I hardly get time to teach. All these letters she has learned either from day care or from some of her toys.
She can write few alphabets, we are not making her write, we are planning to do her Akshrabhyasam in Feb, we missed the Navaratri timeline, I was thinking she is still a baby and will not be ready to write until next year, I never anticipated she will show interest in writing so soon. These days she is so fascinated printing letters and she gets super excited to show us.
She counts and gives me enough time to hide; she is an expert finding me. She usually hides under the dining table or behind curtains. Once she was hidden behind the curtain and she made absolutely no sound, I searched for her everywhere without knowing where she was hiding. I almost missed my heartbeat until I found those little legs behind the living room curtains. She enjoys playing soccer with Daddy, she can kick real fast and she no longer misses the ball. She can aim towards a direction and play just using her legs. It’s high time we join her to some real class where she can have more fun.
She can sing so many songs that I lost count, few of them I have never heard before. The words are getting very clear and she sings on demand and she has a song for each occasion. (I think I wrote about this before). This also includes Gayatri Mantram and Jana Gana Mana. It is very cute to see her sing these. Song of the month is “Jingle Bells”. Now that we see lot of Christmas decorations she starts singing. Bridge means London Bridge is falling, cow means old mc Donald had a cow, star- twinkle twinkle little star and so on.
She can finally pedal her tricycle which makes me think she has grown tall even though there is no significant change in her weight and she is growing thin day by day. We can see her spinal cord which makes me nervous. But till 17years even I had no extra fat in my body. R was like that till he was 27. So I blame it on the genes.
She enjoys her bedtime stories, it’s getting tough for us, we don’t get enough time to read her, but for now we are taking turns and reading, her imagination is growing and it’s fun to stop while reading to see her reading the remaining sentence and page. Her favorite story book is snow white fairy tales.
Everything comes with an ecue me(Excuse me), if we are standing on her way earlier she used to say “mummy move” now it’s “ecue me mummy, can you move”. Sentences comes with a please and it’s hard to deny when she does that like “Can I watch Dora please”. Can I have this please and so on. You hand over anything which she likes if I give her rice dal I get no response, if I offer her orange juice or corn I always get a Thank you mummy response from her.
She never allows us to shout at each other, she is our little judge. She comes and tell us” Mummy/Daddy be happy, don’t scream”. She does it lot of authority we often get melted away and stop fighting. It’s so true that having a child around makes life a lot different, well I meant in positive way.
Morning chores are easy she can brush by herself, she selects her cloths, she can wear her pants and soaks etc. She is still a daddy’s girl except bedtime. During night she prefers to have me around. We still co-sleep her and I am still breastfeeding her. I have been thinking to stop this but this is something we both absolutely enjoy, that will be our next milestone I guess. She is very pious and happy to pray in front of god. I am less religious and I don’t pray every day, but now we get lot of push from her to put the deepam every day. I must say unknowingly I like this. Having the deepam, standing and praying for few minutes do really make me feel less stressed.
She is watching a lot of TV when she is at home; blame it on the weather or our busy schedules. Earlier she used to just watch Dora. Now she watches Thomas, Diego, SuperWhy, Curious Geroge, Sid the science kid and so many more. We are making frequent visit to Library and Chucky gets to select her books and DVDs. She is growing from a baby to a little girl with her own choices.
She has imaginary friends and love talking to them, also she is into a stage where she wants to be someone else, for eg one day she declared “I am Kshirin(my friend’s daughter) and Daddy you r Raja uncle” Whole day she was pretending to be Kshirin and she wanted R to act like Raja uncle. One thing I noticed is Chucky does share things at daycare but at home she is possessive about few of her toys, also another thing I noticed is she likes to play with girls of her age and boys who are much older than her. At day care she is totally different person though. She is more close to boys in her class than girls. Well I can’t conclude anything, but few of my observations.
Life is going fast and she is growing super-fast, there is so much more to write, I promise I will come back and write more. Here is some pictures of my little monkey.
